Are you a hands-on, tech-savvy problem solver looking for your next challenge? Our client is on the lookout for an experienced and customer-focused Service Desk Engineer to join our ICT team and support the technology needs across our iconic operations, including ski fields and tourism businesses.
About the Role This is no ordinary desk job. You’ll provide IT support across a wide range of infrastructure and user technologies. You’ll be out in the field supporting everything from structured cabling and desktop environments to enterprise systems and network connectivity across Queenstown and surrounding sites.
From setting up users to supporting seasonal site rollouts (think ski field readiness), no two days will be the same. You’ll ensure staff get responsive, high-quality technical support—and that systems are secure, efficient, and up-to-date.
Key Responsibilities - Deliver exceptional ICT support across WAN, LAN, servers, desktops, applications, and AV equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues (on-site and remotely).
- Maintain and roll out new technologies, including structured cabling, PC builds, Teams Rooms, and more.
- Log, prioritise, and manage service desk requests within SLAs.
- Assist with IT asset management, imaging, tagging, and deployment.
- Participate in ICT projects, seasonal refreshes, and on-call rotations.
What We’re Looking For - Proven experience in an IT support or Service Desk role
- Solid hands-on knowledge of:
- Windows 11, Windows Server 2016/2019
- Active Directory and Office 365 (Teams, SharePoint, PowerApps, etc.)
- Networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, VLANs, etc.)
- PC/laptop hardware, Citrix, VMware, backup tools (e.g. Veeam)
- Cabling, patch panels, and AV/meeting room setup
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to varied physical environments (e.g. mountain resorts).
- A relevant IT qualification or equivalent industry experience.
Desirable (Bonus) Skills - Certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, or VMware.
- Familiarity with Unifi, Aruba, Meraki, HP Nimble SAN, and structured cabling.
Additional Info - Role includes occasional after-hours will include weekend work, especially during the ski season.
- Travel to local sites is required (must be within 1 hour of Coronet Peak, Remarkables, or Queenstown offices).
- Participation in an on-call roster is expected.
- Preference for this role is 2 RDO midweek with rostered weekends
