What makes this role interesting?
This isn't a traditional management role.
You'll spend 50% of your time contributing directly to engineering initiatives, partnering with senior engineers on architecture, and helping solve complex technical challenges. At the same time, you'll lead a small team of experienced engineers, supporting their growth and helping them deliver great outcomes.
The business is has invested heavily into AI and exploring how it can improve both the product and the way engineering teams work. They're looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to help drive that journey.

What you'll be doing
You'll work closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to:

• Build and deliver high-quality SaaS products used by customers globally
• Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term platform strategy
• Support and mentor a team of talented engineers
• Create an environment where engineers can do their best work
• Help the team move quickly while maintaining quality and reliability
• Drive adoption of AI tools and modern engineering practices
• Influence how technology supports product and business goals
• Champion operational excellence across delivery, observability, and reliability

What we're looking for

We're interested in speaking with experienced engineering leaders who still enjoy solving technical problems and building software.

You'll likely bring:

• Strong commercial Ruby on Rails experience (Essential)
• Experience working with React and AWS-based environments
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code and modern CI/CD practices
• Experience leading engineers in a product-focused environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• A pragmatic approach to balancing technical excellence with delivery
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for AI and emerging technologies

Most importantly, you'll have a strong sense of ownership, enjoy working in collaborative environments, and be motivated by building products that customers genuinely value.
