About the Project: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer for a specialized, customer-funded project with an innovative engineering and technology business.
The company utilizes a sophisticated, internally built simulation environment for all internal testing, which is also distributed to select clients. A major customer operating within a Linux environment has requested this tooling be built for their specific platform.
Your mission for this contract is to take the reins and successfully deliver this Linux port.
The Work You will be responsible for porting the existing Windows-based simulation environment across to Linux.
- Navigate a Blended Codebase: The codebase originated in older C++ and C#, but is now predominantly modern C# on .NET 10 (which runs natively on Linux).
- Hardware Emulation: Focus extensively on hardware emulators built in C#—this is the core component of the work. These emulators run embedded code directly from the company's control systems.
- Compile Patterns: Adapt and port an existing pattern used for compiling from Windows into Linux.
Experience Required - Core Tech Stack: Deep expertise in C# and .NET, with a strong focus on modern .NET environments.
- OS & Porting: Proven Linux experience, ideally with a strong background in cross-platform development or direct porting projects.
- Software Development: Solid experience in desktop application development.
- Code Flexibility: Completely comfortable working across both legacy and modern code within a single, complex codebase.
Nice to Have - C++ experience alongside C# is the ideal mix, though deep C# expertise remains the top priority.
- Previous exposure to embedded software or control systems.
- A background in simulation, emulation, or test tooling.
