The Opportunity

Looking for a Cyber Security Engineer for our clients Build and Protect Services squad, you will play a key role in protecting our client's New Zealand’s technology environment. You will help identify vulnerabilities, assess and manage risk, maintain and enhance cyber security tools, and respond to security threats across a fast paced and complex enterprise landscape.

You will contribute to platform upgrades, support the deployment of new security solutions, and work closely with internal teams and vendors to continuously uplift our client's cyber security maturity. This role is hands on and operational, with a strong focus on protecting our systems, our people, and our customers every day.

What You’ll Do
  • Support changes, upgrades, and ongoing operation of their information security platforms.
  • Troubleshoot security issues and provide support for project related initiatives.
  • Maintain configuration standards aligned with security policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the security engineering roadmap and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support governance, audit, and compliance obligations.
  • Communicate technical security information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Use data driven insights to improve security processes and uplift cyber maturity.
  • Monitor emerging threats, technology trends, and relevant legislative changes.
  • Support security awareness initiatives across the organisation.
  • Collaborate closely with internal technology teams and external vendors.
What Will You Bring?
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 year's experience or more in a networking AND cyber security or information security engineering role.
  • Experience in managing a broad range of Cyber Security tools, including AV, EDR, MFA, and DLP solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network technologies.
  • Exposure to a range of security technologies including email security, firewalls, URL filtering, and malware protection.
  • Experience with security incident and event management platforms, PKI infrastructure, or similar security tooling.
  • Experience working in environments with strict change control processes such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
  • Demonstrable understanding of change, incident, and problem management aligned to ITIL practices.
  • Exposure to Windows and Linux operating systems, scripting or coding languages, and networking fundamentals.
  • Confidence working with third party vendors to resolve complex multi stakeholder issues.
  • Understanding and application of information security standards such as ISO 27001, PCIDSS.
  • Experience supporting technology in regulated industries such as financial services or government is highly regarded.
  • Security related certifications such as CISSP or network security certifications are desirable.
