The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join a high-profile payments programme focused on the cryptographic uplift of payment systems. This is a contract opportunity based in Auckland CBD, working within a programme environment currently establishing governance structures and progressing through board approval. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering secure, future-ready payment capabilities.
About the Role: This position sits within a payments and security context, focused on strengthening cryptographic controls and key management frameworks. You will work closely with technical teams, architects, security specialists and programme leadership to define and document robust technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities: • Elicit and document detailed technical requirements • Produce sequencing diagrams and technical design artefacts • Define wireframes, payload structures and API specifications • Work across integration layers and payment flows • Support secure key management practices (including key blocks in banking/card payment environments) • Collaborate with security and engineering teams to ensure alignment with cryptographic standards (e.g. AES and related frameworks) • Contribute to governance documentation and board-level reporting inputs About You • Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst in complex enterprise environments • Strong experience working with APIs, integrations and system payload definitions • Ability to create sequence diagrams and technical documentation to a high standard • Experience in payments systems (banking, card payments or financial services) • Exposure to security and cryptography concepts (e.g. encryption standards, key management, key blocks) • Comfortable working within structured programme and governance environments
